On most KZ's the brown wire on the regulator is the feedback/control wire. It should have battery voltage on it when the key is on and ground when the key is off.
When the bike is running, if the voltage goes low on the brown wire the regulator will increase its output to compensate. If the voltage goes high it will lower the output to keep from overcharging the battery.
